Story of this movie

There is a girl whose name is Jaenna and who grew up dreaming of becoming a fashion model.  Her biggest dream is to walk on runway of all the major fashion shows in the world, such as Paris collection, Milan collection, and New York collection.  However, when she is going to school to pursue her dream, her father who runs a small private airline company and who is only pilot at the company dies in an accident.  Her mother died when Jeanna was little, so she is only one who can keep the business running.  She also has to learn how to drive air plane also.  This is a story of her going through a lot of trouble managing the business and becoming a pilot.  Instead of walking on runways of fashion shows, she has to work on runway at airports ironicly.

My pattern design

My final design

My inspiration for this design came from my old yukata, traditional Japanese dress as known as kimono for evening, I used to wear when I was little.  My mom used to dress my sister and I in yukata when my parents took us to see fireworks during summer.  It is a kind of Japanese tradition, especially for firls, to wear those when people go to those events.  This is not exactly the design I had on my yukata, but I wanted to make some Japanese design for this T-shirt.  The idea of horse came from my other childhood memory which is when my parents used to my sister and I to horse ride every often and we really loved it.

Work in progress

- My skech of background & anther characters -

My backgrround image is spring of Japan. In March, we can see cherry blossoms in full bloom in parks and on banks of rivers and we also can see vivd swallowtails.  They are so beautiful.  This scene is the first time that my dog character saw a swallowtail in a park.  He was very amazed by the swallowtail and he seemed to want to fly freely with it.

- My finished elements of background and characters  -

I scaned my sketches into illustrator and made these.

- My final composition -

Sample Character

I researched characters of dogs and animals because I took an idea of my character from my dog. I prefer illustrations to described simple rather than a lot of detail. These characters are cute because they are drawn with simple lines and shapes.

Artist-a-Day / Jennifer Cronin is Norman Rockwell of 21st-century

Motif of her works is realities of people's everyday life which are often hidden.  Some parts of your personal matters that you don't realy show to other people.  They are very realistic and humorous.  Her works remind me of works of Norman Rockwell who was one of the most famous 20th-century American painter and illustrator and lived between 1894 –1978.  His illustrations depict lives of American people at the time.  I really like his works, so it caught my eyes when I first saw Jennifer's work on Artist-a-Day site.  And I went to her web site and saw all the other her works, then I was covinced that she is Norman Rockwell of 21st-century.

My character sketches

I designed this character based on a French bulldog which My family have in Japan.  His name is "Mame".  He is very energetic and cheerful.  He always cheered me up and I got power from him when I was sad and depressed.  So, I made this character hoping that people are going to get a lot of power when they see him.
